Diammonium phosphate, also known as ammonium hydrogen phosphate, is a white crystal with the molecular formula (NH4)2HPO4. It is soluble in water and decomposes when heated to 155°C, but it may also gradually decompose at room temperature. Ammonia gas is released to form ammonium dihydrogen phosphate. The aqueous solution is weakly alkaline, ChemicalbookpH8.0. Product specifications are: 64% (N18: P2O546), 61% (N17: P2O545), 57% (N15: P2O542). In order to increase storage stability, some products add coating agents during the production process to make the product appear brown or yellow.
Application:
1. Diammonium hydrogen phosphate fertilizer grade is mainly used as a high-concentration nitrogen-phosphorus compound fertilizer; industrial grade is used to impregnate wood and fabrics to increase their durability. It can also be used as dry powder fire extinguishing agent and phosphorus for fluorescent lamps; it is also used in printing and plate making, the manufacturing of electronic tubes, ceramics, enamel, etc., and wastewater biochemical treatment; in the military industry, it is used as a flame retardant in rocket engine motor insulation materials.
2. Used as feed additive for ruminants.
3. In the food industry, it is used as food leavening agent, dough conditioner, yeast food, and fermentation aid for brewing.
4. Used as analytical reagents and buffers.
5. Water softener; yeast food, etc.
